I personally prefer morning light, usually around 9 to 11 is great. If photography is your main goal the extra cost for the photography tour is well worth with it. It's much more leisurely and you start much further up the canyon, plenty of time to setup tripod, etc.
Is there a bumpy van ride to the canyon? If so for about how long? Dealing with an injury and trying to avoid anything that is very bumpy. Thank you.
