How far are you required to hike once you arrive at the Garden of the Gods? It is my understanding that you can only drive part of the way? Is that true?

No worries, you drive right through it. Then you can hike as much or as little as you like.
How long is the drive on unpaved roads. Although it's mentioned needing 4wd, is it drivable w 2wd?

I would not recommend 2WD. Only the main road is paved. The rest of the trip is on dirt roads with mud, gullies and rocks! It is a good idea to have a 4WD car to navigate the difficult …
