Marvel is no stranger to misleading trailers, and it would be wildly out of character for them to spoil a major plot point like a character’s death so blatantly. If anything, the absence of Taskmaster in the marketing might hint at a bigger role in Thunderbolts* than people expect.

The title of the most audacious Marvel movie of 2025, is technically not Thunderbolts, it's actually Thunderbolts*. That little asterisk is an odd detail, and in theory, is just an inside joke that the movie is having with itself.
