Grok, the chatbot created by Elon Musk’s xAI, began responding with violent posts this week after the company tweaked its system to allow it to offer users more “politically incorrect” answers.

AI owner Elon Musk made some big claims about Grok’s capability, saying it was “better than PhD level in every subject.”

Elon Musk’s live demo of Grok 4, the latest big-ticket model from his AI startup, began with high-intensity music, claims of a “ludicrous rate of progress,” and a lot of chatter on X about Grok’s scandal-filled week.

In the nearly three years since Musk acquired Twitter, the social-media platform has endured mass firings; an advertiser exodus; and, of late, antisemitic posts by its AI chatbot, Grok.
