UMass said it would pay a student the $10,000 prize for a halftime promotion at a women’s basketball game after a dispute with an insurance company over whether he stepped over the line when he made a half-court shot.

After making a half court shot, Noah Lee's viral moment got even more attention when he was told he would not be getting the prize money.

The UMass Athletic Department is working on rewarding the student $10,000 after he sunk a half-court shot Wednesday night.

Lee says UMass staff reviewed the footage before they sent it off to the insurance company and noticed he put his foot on the half-court line.

: UMass Director of Athletics Ryan Bamford pledged to get the $10,000 prize into the hands of Lee on Friday, whether the insurance company contributes or not. Bamford announced on X that the athletic department will pay Lee directly if a resolution is not reached with the host of the promotion.
