Iswaran began his 12-month jail term in October after pleading guilty to obtaining valuable items from tycoon Ong Beng Seng.

Iswaran began his 12-month jail term on Oct 7, 2024. Lawyers confirmed with CNA that in their experience, offenders become eligible for home detention after serving around one-third of their sentence.

Under the home detention scheme, inmates are allowed to leave their homes for approved employment during working hours, while those without employment are generally allowed out for a few hours in the afternoon.
