A federal judge in Boston Wednesday is allowing the Trump administration to move forward with its federal worker buyout program for the moment.

Around 75,000 workers have reportedly taken the offer so far. That represents about 3% of those who were offered the deal—a large job cut by any measure, but short of the White House’s reported goal of slashing between 5% and 10% of the federal workforce through buyouts.

The buyout is one of many approaches Trump is taking to slash a civilian workforce of 2.3 million that he has blasted as ineffective and biased against him.

The order reinstates the program that offered federal workers eight months of pay and benefits if they voluntarily resigned.
