UCLA administrators said Wednesday they were suspending two Students for Justice in Palestine organizations after masked pro-Palestinian campus activists protested outside the Brentwood home of University of California Regent Jay Sures last week,

UCLA Chancellor Julio Frenk announced on Feb. 12 that the university has issued an interim suspension to the university’s Students in Justice in Palestine (SJP) and Graduate Students for Justice in Palestine (GSJP) chapters for their reported involvement in targeting UC Regent Jonathan “Jay” Sures’ home on Feb. 5.

Two officially recognized pro-Palestine student organizations at UCLA have been suspended and are under administrative review Thursday following allegations of vandalism at the residence of a UC regent in Brentwood and reports of harassment.

Activists bragged on social media about disturbing Sures's neighbors and forcing him to hunker down in his residence.

Following this order, the US has reportedly revoked the visa of Liu Lijun, a Chinese student at UCLA (University of California Los Angeles) who was arrested in May 2024 for organising pro-Palestine rallies. Liu will likely be deported to China following the executive order which calls for a federal crackdown on campus antisemitism.
