WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Monday appeared to undercut a proposal that was offered by his special envoy to Iran, saying he will insist that Tehran fully dismantle its nuclear enrichment program as part of any deal to ease crushing sanctions.
Israel has reportedly assured the White House it will not strike Iranian nuclear facilities unless President Trump indicates negotiations have failed. This comes amid US concerns about a potential Israeli preemptive strike.
Pressure is back, but it needs to escalate to push Tehran to agree to a worthwhile nuclear deal.
