India Sends Navigation Satellite Into Orbit on ISRO Rocket in Landmark Launch
In 2024, the United States led with 145 space launches, driven largely by SpaceX, while China followed with 68, according to industry data. India, historically a smaller player, is increasing its launch cadence, with ISRO planning 30 missions by March 2025.
India turns to private sector for rocket launches
Two private Indian start-ups, Skyroot Aerospace and Agnikul Cosmos, have successfully completed suborbital tests of launch vehicles. Goenka said India was still “in the process of identifying who will build” the future rockets, and noted that “non-government entities” including state-owned groups outside ISRO would also be eligible.
