Bo Nix had a chance to become a Pro Bowler, but instead opted out. The Broncos rookie quarterback was offered a spot in this week’s Pro Bowl activities after Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson and Buffalo’s Josh Allen dropped out and first alternate Patrick Mahomes advanced to his fifth Super Bowl appearance in six years.

That list might have included Denver Broncos rookie Bo Nix.

Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud declined his invite, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN reports. Broncos quarterback Bo Nix isn’t going because of the transverse process fracture in his back that he played through at the end of the season, Mike Klis of 9News reports.

Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert and C.J. Stroud were all unavailable or opted out of the Pro Bowl, so Nix was next in line. After Nix opted out, Joe Burrow is now the AFC’s top QB left with Wilson and Maye added to the squad behind him.

Bo Nix could have been a Pro Bowler as a rookie, but he opted to pass due to a medical procedure he's set to undergo this week.
