He joined up with Mary to form a popular 1950s husband-and-wife duo in which Les Paul played the guitar and Mary Ford sang. In 1951 alone, they sold six million records.

Gibson has honoured one of its all-time greats with the Mary Ford Les Paul Standard, a truly magnificent Goldtop based on her original 1958 custom order.
