Manchester City are back in Premier League action at home to Newcastle this weekend as they look to bounce back from defeat against Real Madrid in midweek. City’s hopes of regaining the Champions League took a blow on Tuesday night as they twice let a lead slip to fall to a 3-2 loss.

Man City were heavily beaten 5-1 by Arsenal in their last top-flight fixture a fortnight ago, leaving them in fifth place and a staggering 18 points behind leaders Liverpool. They are also two points behind Chelsea in fourth, as well as level on points with their next opponents Newcastle in sixth, who also have the same goal difference.

Things are no better in the Premier League, with a fifth consecutive title off the agenda after some indifferent form to say the least. A top-four finish is still very much in the crosshairs, though, making Saturday's game with sixth-placed Newcastle hugely significant.
