Parliament is set to consider new proposals that would see the House of Commons and Lords moved onto a floating barge in the Thames, as the cost of repairing the Victorian palace soars.

The council and quay provide space for various fully rigged Thames sailing barges. There has been no significant dredging work in the main areas occupied by the barges since around 2000.
