U.S. stock indexes are drifting after last week's sharp losses, with the S&P 500 down 0.4% and the Nasdaq dropping 1%. Berkshire Hathaway rose 3.4% after reporting increased profits, while Nvidia's decline impacted overall market performance.
Berkshire Hathaway has liquidated its holdings in S&P 500 ETFs from Vanguard and State Street Global Advisors, leaving the bellwether investor without any ETF positions.
But Warren Buffett-led Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A) (NYSE: BRK.B) gained 1.7% on the session and then reached an all-time high on Friday. In addition to outperforming the S&P 500 so far in 2025, Berkshire had a higher total return than the S&P 500 in 2024.

The S&P 500 added 1.59% on Friday to close at 5,954.50. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 601.41 points, or 1.39%, closing at 43,840.91. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.63% to settle at 18,847.28.
Stock market futures moved higher early Monday as Wall Street looked to bounce back from a slide late last week. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 220 points, or 0.51%. S&P 500 futures added 0.54%, while Nasdaq 100 futures were up 0.53%.
