A Florida lawmaker has filed a bill aimed at barring some Florida colleges and universities from admitting undocumented immigrants.

Florida’s GOP leadership will roll deep in Washington D.C. on Monday. State lawmakers will be participating in President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration events just days before convening in Tallahassee for a special session, planned to support Trump’s immigration policies he aims to enact on day one.

The proposal comes the day after Gov. Ron DeSantis called for a special legislative session focused on implementing tougher immigration policies.

Scheduling conflicts have forced the cancellation of the Brevard County Legislative Delegation meeting planned for Jan. 29 at Cocoa City Hall. Florida House Majority Leader Tyler Sirois, R-Merritt Island, who chairs the seven-member, all-Republican Brevard delegation, said a new date for the delegation meeting has not been set.
