Queen Latifah celebrated the late music icon during Sunday's Oscar ceremony, singing "Ease on Down the Road" from 'The Wiz'

The Academy said it will be moving in a new direction as far as music selections go and doing away with live performances of the best original song nominees.

Doja Cat, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, LISA of Blackpink, Queen Latifah and RAYE have been announced as musical performers for this year’s 97th Annual Academy Awards. The Academy says they will participate in “showstopping performances celebrating the filmmaking community and some of its legends at the 97th Oscars”.

Six powerhouse women – Doja Cat, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, LISA of BLACKPINK, Queen Latifah and Raye – will perform at the 2025 Oscars on Sunday, March 2, at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. The show also will feature a special appearance by the Los Angeles Master Chorale.

The Academy Awards 2025 on March 2 are set to be hosted by Conan O’Brien. Among the names in its prestigious lineup of presenters are singer and actress Selena Gomez, acclaimed star Ana de Armas, industry icon Oprah Winfrey,
