Trump signed an executive order to limit birthright citizenship on his first day back in office. It directed federal agencies to refuse to recognize citizenship for children born in the U.S. who do not have at least one parent who is a citizen or a lawful permanent resident.

Tellingly, the president avoided defending his dubious interpretation of the 14th Amendment at the Supreme Court.
