Wind chills could get as cold as -25 at times again Friday morning too but with lighter winds in the morning the wind chill will not be as brutal. There should be rapid improvement by Friday afternoon though as the south wind sends us in the double digits once again, approaching 20 in Omaha!

We kept our streak of consecutive days with snowfall going on Thursday, with another batch of area-wide snow, which will be transitioning to some lake effect snow Thursday night and into Friday. Most areas will only see another coating to an inch or two before things wind down,

High temperatures on Thursday rose above 10° for the first time since Saturday. This does not mark the end of this bitterly cold stretch though. Friday morning will once again have air temperatures near -10° with a wind chill in the 20s below zero.

A common misconception resurfaces as temperatures drop: cold air makes people sick. Despite old sayings like “wear a coat, or you’ll catch a cold,” the truth is that frigid air does not transmit viruses.
