Multiple injuries have been reported in Washington County, Kentucky after a tornado likely tore through Friday morning.

The storm struck a rural portion of Washington County, Kentucky, killing one person and injuring seven others.

Kentucky residents impacted by deadly tornadoes will likely have to turn to a weakened Federal Emergency Management Agency to aid recovery.

Andy Beshear announced in a post on X on Friday night that there is some “good news.” FEMA Individual Assistance is now available for six counties, including Laurel, Pulaski, and Russell. Individual assistance can cover a wide range of needs.

FEMA is assisting tornado survivors in southeast Kentucky at the Center for Rural Development providing a one-stop shop to get information and advice from state, federal and community organizations.

More severe weather is forecast to move into the commonwealth May 20, including in some of the areas hit hardest by recent tornadoes.
