Extreme heat to start week around NYC

Extreme heat is expected to impact much of the middle, southern and eastern portions of the United States this week, though some areas could soon see a cooldown.
The National Weather Service released an updated extreme heat warning at 12:53 p.m. on Friday in effect until 9 p.m. for Eastern Montgomery and Lower Bucks as well as Delaware and Philadelphia counties.
Sunday is bringing sweltering conditions to much of eastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, with an Extreme Heat Warning in effect for Hampton Roads and surrounding areas, and a Heat Advisory issued for parts of the Outer Banks.
Dangerously hot temperatures and high humidity grip eastern Nebraska and western Iowa to end the weekend and start the week. Omaha's Weather Leader has deemed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday severe weather days.
The NWS Raleigh NC issued an Extreme Heat Warning for central North Carolina, with heat index values up to 115, advising precautions against heat-related illnesses.
