The Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies got trade season started by swapping Desmond Bane for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, and picks.

Following a disappointing end in the postseason, the Magic agreed to send veteran guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony and four unprotected first-round picks (the 2025 No. 16 overall pick plus selections in 2026 via Phoenix Suns, 2028 and 2030) along with a 2029 first-round pick swap to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Desmond Bane.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the package involved a stunning haul of four unprotected first-round picks, a pick swap, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Cole Anthony—a move that rocked the basketball world.

The Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic kicked the trade season off on June 15 in a multi-player, multi-pick deal. Desmond Bane is headed to Orlando for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, four future first-round picks and a future first-round pick swap.

Five years ago, Cole Anthony became the most recent UNC basketball product to come off the board among the first 15 selections in an NBA Draft. He wound up with the Orlando Magic, quickly carving out a valuable role that included a full season as a starter in just his second professional campaign.
