Regular Social Security retirement benefits for the month of July will be sent out on the SSA’s usual schedule: Wednesday, July 9: Birth dates between the first and 10th of the month. Wednesday, July 16: Birth dates between the 11th and 20th of the month.

Starting in July, the federal agency will start withholding 50% of a person’s check if they’ve received an overpayment of their benefits. The withholding, officially part of what’s known as the Treasury Offset Program, will remain until the extra benefits are repaid.

Those who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will receive their July 2025 payment Tuesday, July 1. The Social Security Administration suggests that if you don't receive your payment on the expected date, allow three additional mailing days before contacting the agency; most arrive timely because 99% of beneficiaries are paid electronically.
